"A book that entertains is not the same as one that enriches" is a great line.

In a largely anti-intellectual space like TikTok, given enough time, we’ll start to see fringes of intellectualism work as a sort of counter-culture on the platform. I have shelves for entertainment and shelves to enrich, but I think largely, as a writer, the work that enriches is better to learn from since they survived the tests of time, rather than floundered like so many cheap “fast fashion” novels pumped out and forgotten about come the next year. There’s an argument to be that certain literature was the “fast fashion” of their day, Dickens comes to mind, but he wrote about something that is worth remembering. Then again, who’s to say what’s worth remembering when classical romances are so beloved. I think I’ll rap up this rant, ramble with saying I really enjoyed reading this.
